032. Red lava – 21 grams
Red lava you can find all over Iceland. It's made of basalt like 95% of Icelands rocks but this one is from Svínahraun at Hellisheiði which is a mountain road that leads from Reykjavík towards the South coast. That lava field was made at the year 1000 and is often called the lavafield of conversion to christianity. So this piece of stone is 1025 year old.
The red colour is caused by lots of iron in the lava that basicly rusts with time. Red lava is the symbol of fire and rebirth and represents transformation, grounding and primal energy. It is also said to release emotional baggage and therefor worn for courage and strength during life changes.
