009. Baggalútur – 9 grams

Mixture of quartz og hematite. Found nowhere else than in Iceland. Those stones are said to help people with blood flow and specially pregnant women should carry them for increased health for their unborn baby. When polished they are dark brown and shiny but when unpolished they change colour if you hold them in you hand. They can be found in two places in Iceland. This one was found in Hvalfjörður.

They are shaped when they as liquid lava stream into gas bubbles in eruptions on the ocean floor. Because of their toughness they wash up to the shore when the lava breaks and sets them free
